grunge

grunge girl

This fall is marked by Seattle sound and style more than ever. Voices from everywhere screem that grunge is back in a big way...and we scream... even louder(!) that grunge was never away from the Psychocandy heart and SHOP. It's kind of basic in our vintage collection and of course this fall we'll bring you the best from the real grunge. In our vintage shop you'll find a lot of leather in version mini and maxi, dungarees, crop tops, flannel shirts...timeless denim and plaid.

(GRUNGE) Clothing commonly worn by grunge musicians in Washington consisted of thrift store items and the typical outdoor clothing (most notably flannel shirts) of the region, as well as a generally unkempt appearance. The style did not evolve out of a conscious attempt to create an appealing fashion; music journalist Charles R. Cross said, "[Nirvana frontman] Kurt Cobain was just too lazy to shampoo," and Sub Pop's Jonathan Poneman said, "This [clothing] is cheap, it's durable, and it's kind of timeless. It also runs against the grain of the whole flashy aesthetic that existed in the 80s."
